Features
The Thermo-Alcoholometer presented is intended for determining the concentration in volume percentages (degrees of strength) of alcohol in alcoholic solutions (pure alcohol in water). It cannot be used for measuring liquids containing sugars (liqueurs). To check the %(concentration) of alcohol in solutes (ex. vodka, rum, etc.), a container (probe type glass, cylinder) high enough is used, so that the measuring device can float freely without touching the walls or bottom of the vessel. The container must be transparent.
Fill the container with liquid (approx. 80-90% of the capacity of the vessel). Insert the alcoholmeter gently until it floats freely. Read below the meniscus, the indication on the alcoholmeter rod representing the apparent strength of the liquid. The built-in thermometer indicates the temperature of the distillate, after reading it, the correction is made in the attached table, related to the apparent alcohol volume read. The correction is necessary if the temperature of the distillate is different from that at which the alcoholmeter was calibrated, calibrated at 20° C.
The alcoholmeter is graduated in volume percentages on the range 0-100% with the divided value. The tolerated error of the alcoholmeter is equal to the value of one division.
